Chapter 17

My sister

Terra

“I’m sorry, Terra, but it’s for your protection. Even though Laura isn’t here, we don’t know how many others are supporting her idea. Apart from the Alpha, Ruth, and me, you don’t know anyone else. That’s dangerous.”

Dangerous?

Logan must have seen my face, then shaking his head, he added, “That’s not what I mean. I know my pack, and we’re not dangerous in that sense, but yes, your arrival has triggered events we can’t predict at the moment.”

“Oh yes, my arrival. I came to destroy the peace of these wolves.” I looked away from Logan, a little embarrassed and hurt by all that my presence is causing.

“Oh, no, no, no, none of that Terra.” I looked back at him, who was watching me with a smile and dreamy eyes. “As I told you before, I never thought about why we had to maintain our race pure, but what I did think about every day was meeting my fated mate. I know she is not among my kind, you understand me? She must be outside, wondering where I could be.”

Then he looked down and shook his head. Logan definitely needed her. Unfortunately, being the beta of the pack would prevent him from going out searching for her. There is also the detail that she would not be welcome here, just like me.

My situation in my pack was different since my functions were not permanent. In fact, if I wanted to, I could spend the day doing nothing. Being the second daughter, I did not have an important position like my sister, which gave me the advantage of being able to go searching for my mate. And I have achieved that, I have found him.

“Leaving everything aside, and as I was telling you, the Alpha will be away for a few days, and until he returns we will know what to do. Meanwhile, Ruth or I will come to visit you often. Anything you need, you will only have to ask for. And don’t worry about the cost, as it’s courtesy of Savage Claw.”

“Savage claw? Is that the name of the pack?” I asked while Logan nodded, and then I added, “I’ve never heard of that name, and let me tell you, I’m the daughter of an Alpha, plus I’d travelled all around the world searching for my mate.”

“Yes, it’s understandable, we like privacy. Anyway, Terra, I have to go now, the pack’s business doesn’t manage itself, and what I know, I have tons of work”, saying that he turned to leave, but I didn’t let him. “Logan, wait. Give me your mobile number, and Ruth’s.”

He turned his head in my direction, and said, “Mm, we don’t have mobile phones. We use our mental link, which is more effective and free of charge.”

He looked ahead and took a few more steps, but I stopped him again. “If I need to contact you, how will I do it if I can’t get out of the cabin or dial someone?” I said frustrated.

Logan stopped and turned his body around, facing me. Then, pointing his finger at a tree not far from where we were, he said, “Luke can pass the message to me. You just have to tell him what you need. Oh no, don’t think that, Terra. He will be watching solely for your protection. Alpha’s orders.” Mm!

And without saying more, he turned around waving his hand, saying goodbye to me. He left me with my mouth open.

And slowly, I turned my head towards where he had pointed, and indeed a silhouette was leaning against the trunk of the tree, with its arms crossed over his chest. I raised my hand and waved in his direction, and from a distance, I watched as he waved back.

I lowered my hand in what I considered to be a strange and awkward moment and headed for the cabin. I closed the door behind me and looked around the room in frustration. I was trapped in these four walls with nothing to do and plenty of thoughts hanging around my neck. Damn.

I went to the bed and flopped down on it, then took my mobile phone out of my pocket and dialled my sister’s number. She answered on the first ring, “Sis, you finally called. Mom and Dad were already starting to worry. Where are you now?”

“I found him, Samantha, I found my mate.” And at those words, I gasped. As if my brain had finally caught up with the events. Lying as I was, my eyes silently began to water. Tears ran from the corner of my eyes to my ears, getting lost in my hairline.

Samantha’s voice softened, sensing that something was not right, and then she said, “You are the most persevering wolf I have ever met. Let’s not go far, Dad has not met someone like you in his existence. Ha, ha, ha. And I tell you, he’s kind of old, you know?”

“Ha ha ha”, I wiped away my tears while laughing. Samantha has always had a sixth sense related to me. She knows what to say and at the exact moment when I need it. Ugh! How I miss her.

“I miss you, sister. Of course, I miss Mom and Dad too. But tell me how they are doing, and Paul?”

“Ah, changing the subject as always. I’ll tell you if you tell me something about your mate, if not, I won’t tell you a thing.”

Hell, she got me. I wanted to tell her everything, but when things were better for Michael and me. But anyway, Samantha knows how to grab the bull by the horns.

“It’s complicated”, I said, to which she replied, “Nothing in this life is not. If everything was easy to obtain, we would all have everything.”

“Right, the point is that he…he…” Shit, the words don’t want to come out of my mouth.

So, I took a breath of air and steeled myself.

“He is married and with a daughter.”

My sister was silent, surely taking in the information I threw at her, and after what seemed like minutes she replied, “Terra, that’s terrible, but tell me more. There must be more to this.” And of course, there is more to this.

“His wife attacked me with others, and if it hadn’t been for Logan, who is the Beta of this pack, they would have stoned me to death.”

“Shit, Terra, are you okay? If you’re in danger, I’ll tell Dad to talk to the Alpha. He’ll understand the situation and might even do something.”

“Don’t bother, Samantha, since my fated mate is the Alpha.”

Silence again.

“Shit, shit, and more shit. Out of all the wolves in the world, yours had to be the Alpha, apart from being married, and with a daughter. What luck, huh?”

“Tell me about it.”
