Chapter 15

Mi Hopes

Terra

From the car, I watched as his silhouette faded from view as he walked away from me, with his daughter in his arms. Hollow and soulless, that’s how I feel. As if what happened recently had not happened.

Until a few seconds ago, I was flooded with euphoria, passion, and a sense of triumph, however, out of nowhere, I was left empty, thirsty, and afraid. Fear that this wonderful moment that Michael and I shared was only an illusion.

And remembering what happened, I put my hand on my neck, where the bite he gave me began to heal until it completely disappeared. My heart sank and a feeling of helplessness settled in the pit of my stomach.

His fangs don’t go deep enough to permanently mark me. We were interrupted before that happened. Shit, why?

I was so disturbed that I didn’t even pay attention to what was happening outside. Nothing made sense to me right now, and my eyes began to burn because I wanted to cry. Cry and did not stop until all my feelings and this pain came out along with the tears. But I wouldn’t, I wouldn’t give anyone the pleasure of seeing me cry.

But I did not remain in this state for much longer because Ruth’s figure hurriedly approached the car. She stuck her head inside and looked at me, visibly uneasy. I saw her too, unable to say anything since my bravery and life force had been crushed for now, and I needed time to regroup.

“Terra, let’s go,” Ruth said, as she took my hand and helped me out of the car that had broken glass everywhere. Once I was out, and I was on my feet, she led me towards her shop while out of the corner of my eye, I saw the woman who had attacked me still on the ground, while Logan gave orders to other wolves that had just arrived.

Once we were inside, she led me to the back, where there was a door. When she opened it, I noticed that it was a bathroom, with a shower, and it even had a small armchair. Ruth then turned on the shower and placed a towel in my hand, saying, “You’ll feel better after the bath. That’s for sure. I’ll bring the other clothes you selected to get changed.” And without saying more, turning around, she left the bathroom.

I automatically took off what I was wearing and dropped it on the floor, then I got into the shower and let the hot water comfort my body. The first shot that fell not only began to remove the dirt and blood from my body but also opened the doors of my soul. A tear fell, and then the other, until I couldn’t contain what I had imprisoned inside, exploding.

“AAA AA”, I yelled, and at the same time pounded my clenched fists on the wall in front of me.

“Why, why”, that question had no answer, no matter how much I searched for it some time later, I closed the tap and went out. I took the towel and dried my face. I looked at the small chair and saw the new clothes I had chosen, and something else. A set of underwear that it did not occur to me to select before. “Thanks, Ruth,” I said quietly.

After I got dressed, I went to the mirror to see my appearance, and in front of it, I saw a clean face without the injuries I had suffered. Fortunately, our kind heals fast. I wouldn’t want to go out and face the world with a battered face. Once I finished and brushed my hair with a handy brush, I took a few breaths and held the door handle, turned it.

I came out of the bathroom, but no one was there, so I went to the front of the store, and that’s when I saw what was happening.

From inside, through the glass of the store, I saw several wolves along with Logan escorting the women to I don’t know where. Ruth was outside as well, waving her hands in a heated discussion with one of them. I watched from a distance, not wanting to get involved. I had had enough of this day already, and I didn’t want any more surprises.

Minutes later, the place was empty, and finally, Ruth and Logan made their way here. Upon entering, they were both surprised to see me standing there.

I looked at Logan first, and after seeing his angry face coming my way because of everything that happened, still with pronounced expression lines But seeing me, his face relaxed, and that calmed me down. After our initial talk, he 100% changed his treatment towards me. No more hostility, but the opposite.

Then Ruth, who was full of satisfaction. Asking myself why.

And the two in front of me bowed their heads to me as a sign of respect, leaving me stunned.

“Laura disappeared, and I don’t think she’ll ever come back. The Alpha wouldn’t allow it despite what she is to him, or was. You’re not going to believe what I’m going to tell you, Terra, but I’m glad this has happened. With your arrival that unspoken rule breaks, and with a little more time, I hope our society gets used to the arrival of strangers,” Ruth said, making me tremble inside.

“Now there’s one open position, well, exactly two to be correct,” Logan said, with a suggestive grin, and then added, “the mate of the Alpha, and… Luna of the pack.”

My spirit that was on the ground, after listening to them, rose to the skies, wrapping my being with hopes that made me feel invincible, that everything would be fine, and that I would finally find the love that I had been looking for so long. A place to call home.

And despite having cried rivers when I was taking a shower, my eyes got wet again, and regardless of whether they were looking at me, I cried this time, laughing out loud. Intoxicated with the knowledge that there was nothing to stand between Michael and me any more. Nothing to stop him, or make him hesitate.

When my fit of laughter was over, Ruth and Logan were watching me without judgment, and this very moment was when I allowed myself to have friends. My search was over and this would be the place where I would put down roots.
