Chapter 14

Banished

Michael

I practically heard a crack in my chest. I didn’t know what it was, but I knew one thing: the bond.

After speaking to my mother and hearing what she had experienced with her fated mate, now is when I really understand the truth behind her words. Now it makes sense. Now I understand.

“The bond will consume you, son,” she said. And how much truth her words have.

Here, in front of my mate, immersed in her gaze, I wanted nothing in the world. I only wanted her, Terra. Without these eyes, my life has no meaning. And I don’t want it to have. Since the incessant beating of my heart, my sweaty hands, and the lack of words are reaffirming something to me, after her there would be nothing.

My body moved, bringing my face closer to hers, completely immersed in that green that means life to me, without my mind intervening in anything.

My lips slowly touched hers, and the gates of heaven opened for me. The sweet taste of her infiltrated my bloodstream as if each one of my cells wanted to remember what she tasted like. Unable to stop myself, I went for more, closing my eyes. And in doing so, all my senses were in her, feeling her, exploring her.

I kissed her passionately, devouring her soft and smooth tongue. As well as hers, going through every corner of my mouth. Terra was everything I ever needed in this life, and I never knew it.

My wolf, thirsty for her, scratched my insides, tearing my tissues. It wanted her. Mark her, mate, nest, cubs, hunt. The innate desire, which I had not experienced, was threatening to overwhelm my senses and cause me to explode. Something that my human mind did not understand, and had no idea.

My instincts were overtaking my reason, taking control of my body.

Terra, Terra, Terra.

The torrent of passion turned into an inferno until I couldn’t take it any more and I opened my eyes. She was panting, her eyes moist, half open with a mixture of adoration and ecstasy. Instinctive and wild.

I could feel everything she felt, including her beast, howling in the far reaches of her mind. Desire, passion, belonging. She wanted to belong to me more than life itself.

And my fangs descended, while my animal was looking through my eyes, which were black as night, attentive, waiting for the moment.

Our gazes met, and without speaking, Terra cocked her head, exposing her neck.

My insides exploded in a dance of sensation, making my pulse unsteady. I approached her and sniffed her, and then I tasted her skin. Her skin, tanned by the sun, shone before my eyes as if I were seeing a kaleidoscope.

I opened my mouth, salivating, my fangs pulsing in pain. I caught her skin between them and lightly pierced the surface. While Terra moaned in pleasure, her body shuddering against mine.

I pressed a little harder, recording this moment in my head forever, until the glass in the car window exploded, falling on top of us. I covered Terra with my body, while we kept hearing more noises of breaking glass falling on us. Until everything went silent.

When it was all over, I looked up and saw through the broken window Logan struggling to hold back the women, including Laura, who wouldn’t take her furious eyes off me. Glazed with hate, betrayal, and revenge.

“You did this. You were responsible for allowing her into my pack. I curse you, Michael, and I swear you will pay dearly for what you did to me. In my daughter’s life, I swear you will pay,” Laura screamed, as she pointed her finger in my direction, while at the same time, her body transformed. And in an instant, and without looking back, her black wolf ran, fleeing at incredible speed, taking advantage of the confusion.

I watched her without moving or even blinking until she disappeared between the cabins and went into the woods. And as the shock in my brain wore off, the reality and magnitude of what had happened settled in my gut. My stomach turned, and a terrible headache was building.

I watched the chaos in front of me as if I were a mere bystander as Logan had taken control of the situation and easily subdued the women now that Laura had escaped. When he ordered them to sit on the floor and keep absolute silence, the small silhouette that was barely standing out from all of them, cowering, caught my attention and alerted my animal. I felt a crack in the metal as I gripped the door handle, and then kicked the door open. I got out of what was left of my jeep, feeling my body heavy, not caring about anything.

As I approached, I heard the sound of smashed glass crunching under my feet. My eyes were focused on her, and only her.

My daughter looked at me with tears in her eyes, lost and confused. And when I was finally in front of her, I reached down and took her in my arms. She clung to me tightly, crying uncontrollably on my shoulder. My beast began to purr, trying to calm her down, feeling the stressed cub.

Susie sniffed my neck and gradually calmed down in my arms until I only felt her breath on my neck. And with my daughter in my arms, I left the place, walking, heading home, leaving everything in Logan’s hands.

And as I walked away from the site, my heart split in two. Without a look or a word, I had left half of my soul there. However, now is when my daughter needs me the most since her mothers’ stupidity has damaged this relationship irreparably, for life. I am not only referring to myself but also to Susie, as her mother will no longer be able to enter my pack. My daughter now had no mother, nor did I have a wife.
