Chapter 11

I feel something

Terra

This tall and corpulent wolf led me out of the cabin, which I noticed was very far from the rest. The perfect location to house an undesirable person.

OK, that burns.

But at the same time, I didn’t care so much, as I admired the peace and quiet that this place provided. My animal was at peace, and I didn’t know if it was because we had our companion nearby, or because of the wildness of this forest.

But the more we walked, I was noticing that little by little there were more cabins in sight. They all had the same characteristics, except for a personal touch here, and another there.

The nameless wolf glanced over his shoulder from time to time to see if I was following. Ha! As if I were going to escape because he has me here by force, (note my sarcasm). No, I am here because I have decided so.

“Hey! Nameless, where are you taking me?” I asked since I hated being ignored.

“I have a name, you know? My mom picked out a fantastic one for me, and just because I would rather not share it with you doesn’t mean I don’t have one,” the hunk of muscle walking in front of me said, surprising me. But at the same time, I smiled, despite his rudeness.

“And why don’t you want to share it with me? Did I do something to you to have won this treatment from you?” I counterattacked, and as the last word left my mouth, the man stopped, causing me to stop as well, nearly smearing my nose on his back.

With his muscles tense, he turns to me in slow motion, like in a horror film when the killer is about to attack you. However, I wasn’t afraid of him for some unknown reason. Something in the midst of this situation did not allow me.

Finally, coming completely face to face, he raised his eyebrows and with a slightly confused tone, said, “No, I don’t even know you. In fact, today is the first time I have had contact with you.”

I, just as surprised as he was by his response, replied, “Then why didn’t you want to tell me your name?”

He was thinking deeply about what to say, and after a few seconds, he spoke, “Laura said that you were dangerous and that we should be careful with you. She said that we should not lower our guard, since your intentions were terrible.”

Shit, if that didn’t shock me, then nothing would.

Laura, my partner’s wife. Of course, it had to be her. I understand that she hates me and that she is vigilant about me, but trying to turn the members of this pack against me is dirty. She doesn’t understand the position I’m in, and she never will if she doesn’t put herself in my shoes.

If I could talk to her, I could explain. But after the incident, it’s obvious that I can’t be alone with her.

I shook my head, looking at man across from me in the eye, and said with a smile, “Do I look dangerous to you? Do you think this evil and terrible wolf came to eat you all?” And when I saw that his eyebrows rose almost to his hairline, I couldn’t help but laugh.

I laughed in his face, but I just couldn’t help it. This man was hilarious.

“OK, OK, I’m going to shut up,” I said, still trying to contain my laughter, and when I did, I continued, “Nothing like that, I’m not here to cause trouble. I came here looking for my partner, and I found him. And as I see it, we both have only two options.” I held up a finger in front of him and continued, “One, he’s coming with me,” then held up another finger, “or, I’ll make a life here, but with him.”

Watching my guardian, I waited for his answer, which didn’t take long to arrive, surprising me.

“My name is Logan, and I have heard here and there about why you have come to our pack, and I must tell you that it is not like everywhere else here. Here, we do not mix with other races. I don’t know why, nor have I been interested in knowing, until now.”

Good, good, at least we’re making progress here. But what he confessed left my fingers pulsing with curiosity. Unfortunately, I’ll have to look into this with someone else, since as he said, he doesn’t know anything.

“But Logan, you haven’t told me where we’re going. You are making me think that you want to kidnap me or something worse”, I said it without believing it, however, the face he put on made me feel bad. This hulking wolf seemed to have a very sensitive side. I decided at that moment to put the games aside and take this seriously.

“Sorry if I offended you, friend, but what would you do in my situation?” I said sincerely.

Logan nodded, and said, “Apologies accepted, and about where we’re going, I’m trying to take you to the clothing store, and then get you something to eat.” And without saying anything else, he turned around and we continued walking. And this time I decided to follow him without interruptions.

After walking for about half an hour, we reached the centre of the town. I was amazed to see shops of all kinds. This pack was reclusive but had it all like it was just suspended in time.

We passed a laundry, and a few meters away there was a craft store. Across the street was a bakery, the smell hit me like bricks in the head. I was hungry, actually starving. I just hope that soon someone can put my stomach.

And seeing the inhabitants here, of course, those who were in the streets, they even twisted their necks to see me pass. Even those who were buying came out of the stores to see me.

And after going through more stores, we stopped in front of a clothing store. It was small, but I could clearly see that the entire community here was where they did their shopping.

Logan opened the door and nodded for me to enter, which I did. Once inside, I observed the place, which was charming, and full of racks, of clothes of all kinds and for all sizes. And all the way to the back was a counter with a beautiful woman, probably a little younger than me. And like all of them, she shared the same physical characteristics.

Logan walked over to her with a smile, and I followed close behind.

“Ruth,” Logan said, stocking her on the head at the same time, ruffling her hair. And she for her part, her cheeks filled with colour, and slapping Logan’s hand away, she said, “Hey, silly, don’t do that, I’m not a girl any more.”

“Ha, ha, ha”, but my laughter died as I noticed that the two of them were looking at me.

“Ehem, sorry, it’s in poor taste to laugh at someone without even introducing ourselves first. Hi, I’m Terra,” as I said, I reached my hand out to Ruth, hoping she wouldn’t leave my hand in the air, and to my complete surprise and satisfaction, she didn’t. Reaching out her hand to take mine, she said, “Ever since you came to our pack, I’ve been dying to meet you.” And me, with the most hopeful smile I had had in years, we shook hands.
