Chapter 2

Reaching my destination

Terra

“Girl, girl,” I heard noises in the distance, but when I felt someone shake my arm, it was when I opened my eyes.

“This is where you get off.” I heard the old woman as I put my brain cells to work. I blinked several times, trying to take away the sleep that I still felt. I got up and turned to see the old woman. With an exasperated face, he was looking at me impatiently.

¡“Oh um! Thanks, I’m in your debt,” I said, but the old lady practically dragged her eyes to the roof of the van. Wow, there is no doubt that with age, people’s moods worsen. Still, I was immensely grateful

I took my things and left the vehicle, closing the door. I went to the window to say goodbye once more, but the old woman had already ripped away, leaving me in the dust. I covered my nose with my forearm, trying to escape from the dust cloud, and no matter how hard I try, I end up breathing it, causing me to cough heavily. When the attack passed, I brushed off my clothes and looked around me.

It was already late, and I was in the middle of this unknown country road. “Damn old lady, why couldn’t you have left me somewhere else?” I complained out loud.

With no other choice, I grabbed my backpack and slung it over my shoulder. I looked around again, trying to decide which way to go. The darkness was making it difficult for me to make this decision, but I wasn’t completely lost. My lupin eyesight was keen, and even though I was in human form, my senses were superior.

Everything was wild, except for the old road we were coming from, and looking to my left, I noticed a barely visible path, as it was covered by branches and foliage.

Something in me told me that it was the direction I had to take, and despite my doubts, I walked in that direction. With my arms, I made my way through the branches and leaves, feeling like I had walked for hours, until a few meters further on, I came across a clearing. I marvelled at the beauty of this place, since in front of me was a small lagoon. Tall trees surrounded it, and the moonlight illuminated the surface.

The wind gently blew, moving my hair while I was absorbed by this image in front of me. My heart was beating fast for some reason I didn’t know. And when my eyes met a few sparkles in the distance, my heart that was beating quickly stopped, causing me to catch my breath.

“Finally, I found it,” I said aloud, my eyes moist. As I looked at the small, dim lights that meant everything to me, without realizing it, my tears began to wet my cheeks. I did not contain my joy and laughed out loud. My dream was very close to coming true, so close that I could taste it.

I wiped my face with the sleeve of my blouse, and lowered my backpack to the ground, while I looked around me. I had to spend the night here, although what I wanted most was to go to where the lights were and look for him.

But realistically, the distance was great, and travelling in unknown terrain and at night was not recommended. So, I found a space to put on my sleeping bag and got ready for the night.

When I closed my eyes, I began to dream of him.

The loud sound of birds singing made it impossible to continue sleeping. The bright light of the morning sun mercilessly hit my eyelids, forcing me to cover my eyes with my forearm.

“Ugh,” I said, turning my body to the side. I kept my eyes closed for a moment longer until the fog in my brain lifted. I slowly opened my eyes and blinked several times. Once I was fully awake, I sat up, craning my neck, as sleeping on a hard surface was torture. My whole body ached.

I gave a big yawn and removed the sleeping bag from me. I got up and took the opportunity to shake my body. How I needed a bed. And when I think of the bed, my imagination immediately conjures up images of my man, lying next to me, white sheets tangled between our legs.

“Oh! Don’t think about it now, Terra,” I said aloud, fanning my face with the blush my imagination was causing me. I wasted no more time and hurried to pack up my little camp.

When I finished, I put my backpack on my shoulder and turned in the direction where I saw the lights last night. Now nothing was visible, but I had an idea of how to get there, and I already knew the direction I should take.

Taking a deep breath, I set off, encouraging myself as I pondered, and imagined what our first meeting would be like. The road didn’t look easy, but there was nothing in this world to stop me.

From the hill where I was standing, I could see the settlement last night. It was quite high where I was, and it took me a long time to descend. The rocks in my path were loose, making everything even more difficult. This seemed like a massive cliff, and if I lost my balance or lose my foot, I could fall. And such a fall would not suit me at all now.

Finally, I had reached the end, touching solid ground. I collapse on the ground and closed my eyes. The sweat all over my body was making me uncomfortable, and of course, I was hungry and thirsty.

I opened my backpack and took out the bottle of water, which was empty. “Ah,” I yelled, throwing it a few feet away from me.

“Shit, what am I going to do now?” Frustrated, I sight. I held my head with both hands, thinking that if I didn’t find water soon, I wouldn’t get very far.

I suddenly opened my eyes, finding the solution. “Well, of course, what have I been thinking?” I got up from the ground and began to remove everything on me. Once naked, I got everything in the backpack, and let my body begin to transform into my beast. With relief, I welcome the change, as my human body was exhausted.

My animal was slightly larger than average, making me faster and stronger than the others. My wolf would guide me, and I was confident.

With my snout, I took the backpack and set off.
